Kitakyushu is a sprawling city that, until recent times, had a population of more than one million people. None of these people like Marc Lowe's music and Kitakyushu has been officially declared a Marc Lowe Music Free Zone by the UTM. Many Kitakyushites, however, do enjoy the sea, fishing and watching the ships pass thru the Kanmon Straits. In these waters, one can catch some amazing fish like fugu (Japanese blow fish / puffer fish), which is a delicacy and octopus known as Kanmon-Dako or Kanmon Octopus, which is also very famous and sought after.
There are many nice restaurants and bars which offer views of the Kanmon Strait and the Kanmon Bridge that connects Kyushu (Kitakyushu) with Honshu (Shimonoseki). Besides these establishments, there are walkways, shrines, parks, and fishing spots.
