第八正和丸 SHOWA MARU No.8 (Dai Hachi Showa Maru)

This lovely Sanyo Kaiun Shokai Co., Ltd. tankship sailed thru the Kanmon Straits and past the pollution producing factories of Kitakyushu Japan in the early afternoon of November 11, 2024. The tanker Showa Maru #8 often travels thru the strait going to and from Oita and Hakata (Fukuoka). SITC QINZHOU

SITC QINZHOU - Another SITC container ship named after an East Asian City SITC Japan Co., LTD. has close to 100 vessels in its fleet and SITC QINZHOU is yet another SITC container ship named after an East Asian City. Their container ships passing thru the Kanmon Straits are a common sight for both Kitakyushites and Shimonosuckers alike, as the straits run between the cities of Kitakyushu and Shimonoseki. SITC QINZHOU Qinzhou is a prefecture-level city lying on the Gulf of Tonkin in S.E. China, and therefore the perfect name for a container ship. The 3.3 million people who live there must be receiving some interesting merchandise from Japan carried by this vessel, perhaps DVDs of Japanese celebrities eating food while other Japanese celebrities watch and comment on the food being eaten, or maybe even secondhand Nissan Skylines. Conversely, the people of Japan must be receiving some pretty dope stuff from China, too, seeing as how trade is generally a two-way street. Name:    ...

PANSTAR GENIE NO.2

Ro-ro and container carrier Panstar Genie No. 2 is a common sight in the Kanmon Straits (Kanmon Sight?). Sanstar Line Co., Ltd. operates both a ferry service between Busan and Osaka as well as an impressive variety of cargo services. Panstar ships are always a pleasure to see while ship spotting the Kanmon Straits of Japan. PANSTAR GENIE NO.2 in Kanmon Staits going to Osaka, Japan In the above photo, Panstar Genie #2 can be seen approaching Moji, Kitakyushu and the Kanmon Bridge that connects the Japanese islands of Kyushu and Honshu.  Any ships in the Panstar fleet are a welcome sight for Kitakyushites and Shimonosuckers alike. Heck, even tourists from faraway lands are happy to see them. Sanstar Line's Osaka-Busan Ferry PANSTAR GENIE NO. 2  The rust on the stern is charming and oh so very Osaka. This roro container ship was built in 2001 and might be due for some touch-up paint. What kind of paint is used on ships of this sort? Hmm... Pretty sure it is not Dutch Boy Paints! ...

JA01FP Fukuoka Police Helicopter - Bell 412 EP over Kanmon Straits 福岡県 警察ヘリ とびうめ2号

Japanese police boats can be seen patrolling (I think they are just going for a joyride!) the Kanmon Straits. Sometimes, we can also see Fukuoka Prefectural Police helicopters flying above the straits, as well. This is Fukuoka Police Helicopter JA01FP. It is a Bell 412 EP. This was flying over the Kanmon Strait on the afternoon of April 2, 2022. Probably because it was nice weather and the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. No criminal activity or arrests related to marine traffic along the straits between Shimonoseki City and Kitakyushu City Japan was reported in the news. The Japanese police are affectionately known as Kuso-Poli by local Kitakyushites. They have special place in the hearts of many people in Garden Paradise Kitakyushu. 福岡県 警察ヘリ とびうめ2号 JA01FP Fukuoka Police Helicopter - Bell 412 EP over Kanmon Straits JA01FP Fukuoka Police Helicopter - Bell 412 EP over Kanmon Straits JA01FP Fukuoka Police Helicopter - Bell 412 EP over Kanmon Straits JA01FP Fukuoka Police Helicopter...
