Ships of Kanmon Strait

a Takanami-class destroyer of Japan Maritime Self Defense Force sailed thru the Kanmon Straits on the morning of March 10, 2025.  JS SUZUNAMI すずなみ DD-114 Ship Freakazoid was about to call it a day after a cold morning of shooting ships with cameras when a dodgy looking ship caught his eye. It sort of looked like a gray colored tugboat at first.  Chinese Navy doesn't like this Japanese Destroyer Just goes to show military designs and paint schemes work. Especially considering the badass armaments and destructive capabilities it possesses. The CCP's People's Liberation Army Navy doesn't like this Japanese Destroyer. They (the Chinese Navy) unsuccessfully tried to scare Japan by flying a helicopter dangerously close to the JS Suzunami some years ago. They obviously were intimidated by the superior JMSDF vessel. a Seagate Corportation tugboat was filmed in the Kanmon Straits of Japan on a frigid windy February 19, 2025. sailed the Kanmon Straits of Japan on a cold, dark and windy sunset January 25, 2025. The ferries Lilac and Yuukari, according to Shinnihonkai Ferry's website, connect Tsuruga Port, Niigata Port, Akita Port in Fukui Prefecture, and Tomakomai East Port in Hokkaido. So, why was Lilac sailing thru the Kanmon Straits between Kyushu and Honshu in southern Japan? JS SAZANAMI #113 (さざなみ) JMSDF Takanami Class Destroyer JS SAZANAMI #113 (さざなみ) JS SAZANAMI sailed thru the Kanmon Straits of Japan the afternoon of October 20, 2024. It was a pleasant sight to see. JMSDF destroyer escort TONE (DE-234) passed thru the Kanmon Straits. TONE DE-234, a JMSDF Destroyer Escort in the Kanmon Straits  As is often the case with the JMSDF vessels; two of them passed each other in the Kanmon Straits of Japan between Shimonoseki City and the Moji Ward of Garden Paradise Kitakyushu. SEABREEZE container ship sailing past Kitakyushu On a lovely day in mid-June 2024, this vessel graced the famed Kanmon Straits. In the above photo, the tug Kanade (かなで) can be seen in the foreground, assisting the 200 meter cargo ship Seabreeze in navigating this narrow and heavily trafficked strait.  Ship Freakazoid used his trusty old Olympus e520 DSLR to capture these ships on digital film in an artsy fartsy photograph which showcases the beauty of ships made by man and machine and the beautiful sky, sea, and greenery made by whoever or whatever made them. Keiyu Maru No.5 happened to be going the opposite direction as the gigantic ro-ro Liberty Promise on the afternoon of March 18, 2024. The Kitakyushu based cargo ship looked good passing by Simonoseki's infamous "Tower That Makes All Men Feel Inferior." 

MOL Celebration is a large container ship in the Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd.(株式会社商船三井) fleet of vessels.   It was photographed by Ship Freakazoid on September 7, 2023 as it passed thru the Kanmon Straits between Moji and Shimonoseki on its journey from Tokyo, Japan to Busan, Korea.
