WAKO is the 100th Entry!!! Yay!!! While this RoRo coastal car carrier has been seen sailing thru the Kanmon Straits many times, it is the first time to photograph it. Seeing the HONDA logo on the side brings The Beach Boys song 'Little Honda' to mind.  WAKO わこう 内航自動車運搬船 Wako's home port is Fukuoka and the car carrier appears to exclusively transport autos to and from Japanese ports like Yokkaichi, Funabashi, etc. One can't help but wonder what models of HONDA vehicles it is carrying. Please let me wonder while I listen to Little Honda and pick up some good vibrations. Musical ship spotting. Built by Shinkochi Heavy Industries in 2016, Wako has a loading capacity of 508 cars. HOEGH SHANGHAI of the Hoegh Autoliners fleet in the Kanmon Strait Japan HOEGH SHANGHAI passed thru the Kanmon Strain (Japan) on March 11, 2024 and was photographed by Ship Freakazoid. Ro-ro and container carrier Panstar Genie No. 2 is a common sight in the Kanmon Straits (Kanmon Sight?). Sanstar Line Co., Ltd. operates both a ferry service between Busan and Osaka as well as an impressive variety of cargo services. Panstar ships are always a pleasure to see while ship spotting the Kanmon Straits of Japan. PANSTAR GENIE NO.2 in Kanmon Staits going to Osaka, Japan In the above photo, Panstar Genie #2 can be seen approaching Moji, Kitakyushu and the Kanmon Bridge that connects the Japanese islands of Kyushu and Honshu.  Any ships in the Panstar fleet are a welcome sight for Kitakyushites and Shimonosuckers alike. Heck, even tourists from faraway lands are happy to see them. Sanstar Line's Osaka-Busan Ferry PANSTAR GENIE NO. 2  The rust on the stern is charming and oh so very Osaka. THERMOPYLAE is a vehicles carrier (RoRo ship) and was recently photographed passing thru the Kanmon Straits between Shimonoseki City and Kitakyushu City, Japan. Thermopylae is a large vessel, and while not as long as some others,  is quite tall. It dwarfed the buildings and other ships and boats it passed on the afternoon of April 2, 2022. Meet TORONTO. Toronto is not that place in Canada but a RORO auto carrier in the Wallenius Wilhelmsen fleet. This amazing vessel is 200 meters long and 32 meters wide.   Ilshin Polaris Royal - Roro Cargo Ship in Kanmon Strait 12/2021 Ilshin Polaris Royal recently (Dec. 2021) passed thru the Kanmon Strait and under the Kanmon Bridge. Good looking vessel. Nice red color. The Kanmon Strait sees lots of marine traffic and Roro ships like this Korean vessel are a common site. The Kanmon Straits are quite treacherous and larger ships often utilize the services of pilot ships to guide them. The Kanmon Strait runs between Honshu Island (Shimonoseki City) and Kyushu Island (Kitakyushu City). Shimonosuckites and Kitakyushites are often greeted with the wonderful scenery of passing ships, boats, and sometimes submarines.
