MORNING CHERRY

lovely vehicles carrier sailing under the Flag of Panama gracefully cruised thru Kanmon Straits of Japan on May 1st 2025. MORNING CHERRY (IMO 9675585) Vehicles Carrier The ro-ro vessel Morning Cherry was captured on digital film by Ship Freakazoid while ship spotting Japan's sea near Kitakyushu on a lovely spring afternoon. EUKOR Ro-Ro Ship MORNING CHERRY Sailing in Japan One can help but wonder what kind of vehicles are in this lovely Eukor cargo ship. Cars? Trucks? Buses? Panzer Tanks? Bulldozers? This vessel gets around. It has been to ports like Suva in Fiji, Damman in Saudi Arabia, Shanghai in West Taiwan (f#$% the CCP!), and Mokpo in Korea. Guess people still need cars... Vessel Name MORNING CHERRY Ship Type Vehicles Carrier / Ro-Ro IMO number 9675585 MMSI 357076000 Flag Panama Year Built 2014 Length (m) 199 metres Width (m) 32 metres Call Sign 3FOD5

MV SEABORN QUEST

small "game changing" luxury cruise sailing the Kanmon Straits of Japan on April 3, 2025. MV Seabourn Quest in the Kanmon Straits of Japan MV Seabourn Quest was captured on digital film by Ship Freakazoid for your viewing pleasure. What a cool ship. Due to the vessel's smaller size, it is able to make port calls at smaller ports and provide wonderful experiences for its passengers. Apparently the passenger capacity is just 458 guests. One could almost learn everyone else's name while on the cruise, if one was so inclined.  Cruise ship sailing under the Kanmon Bridge This vessel attracted a smattering of shutterbugs and Looky Lous as it sailed thru the Kanmon Straits between the Cities of Kitakyushu and Shimonoseki  Japan on a lovely spring day. And, as the Beach Boys sang"Round, round, get around!" This ship gets around. It is now headed to Huron, USA and has just been to Boston and Quebec. I wonder if Quebec will ever secede... That would be cool! Seabourn ...

KEN REI

The bulk carrier sailed the Kanmon Straits between Kitakyushu and Shimonoseki Japan on its way from Kaoshiung Taiwan (Yes, it's a country! Screw the CCP!!!) to Kanda Japan (an industrial suburb of Garden Paradise Kitakyushu) on April 3, 2025.   Bulk Carrier KEN REI Sails the Kanmon Straits Ken Rei had a majestic presence as it proudly sailed the narrow passage between Kitakyushu (Kyushu Island) and Shimonoseki (Honshu Island) under the Kanmon Bridge. Sailing in the opposite direction was a naval parade of JMSDF vessels and an Italian cruise ship. Ken Rei's crew had a great view, no doubt. JS SUZUNAMI・すずなみ DD-114

a Takanami-class destroyer of Japan Maritime Self Defense Force sailed thru the Kanmon Straits on the morning of March 10, 2025.  JS SUZUNAMI すずなみ DD-114 Ship Freakazoid was about to call it a day after a cold morning of shooting ships with cameras when a dodgy looking ship caught his eye. It sort of looked like a gray colored tugboat at first.  Chinese Navy doesn't like this Japanese Destroyer Just goes to show military designs and paint schemes work. Especially considering the badass armaments and destructive capabilities it possesses. The CCP's People's Liberation Army Navy doesn't like this Japanese Destroyer. They (the Chinese Navy) unsuccessfully tried to scare Japan by flying a helicopter dangerously close to the JS Suzunami some years ago. They obviously were intimidated by the superior JMSDF vessel. DOLPHIN 01

ship spotting chemical and oil products tankers in the Kanmon Straits on March 10, 2025, Ship Freakazoid captured this vessel on digital film.  DOLPHIN 01 - Tanker sailing the Kanmon Strait Sporting a newer paintjob than it has on some vessel tracking sites, Dolphin 01 was a pleasant sight to see as it sailed between Shimonoseki and Kitakyushu. Dolphin 01 (IMO #9337834) Dolphin 01 has been popular on his @ShipFreakazoid channel at YouTube, amassing over 1300 views in less than two months. ZENITH ACE

sailed thru the Kanmon Straits past Garden Paradise Kitakyushu and Sultry Shimonoseki City on the morning of March 10, 2025. Air quality was terrible and it was extremely hazy and quite windy and cold (and, is the too many 'ands'?) weather. ZENITH ACE - IMO 1062366 - Kanmon Strait, Japan Ship Freakazoid used his secondhand Olympus e520 DSLR for photos and antique JVC Everio video camera on used Slik tripod for video. Here are some details on this recently built ship mini bulker: Vessel Name ZENITH ACE IMO number 1062366 MMSI 352004326 Callsign 3E6645 Ship Type General Cargo Ship Sepicific Type Dry Bulk / Mini Bulkers 1 Flag Panama Year of Build 2024 Length Overall 80.00 meters Width 13.00 meters Gross Tonnage 2450 tons Deadweight(DWT) 3300 tons Zenith Ace has Hangul characters under its name so, chances are, it is based in Korea. FATA MORGANA - Ship sailing in the sky near Kitakyushu Japan

Alright, so check this out!  FATA MORGANA is this wild optical illusion that happens when you're standing on land, looking out over the ocean, and you see a ship that looks like it's floating above the horizon. It's not magic, though—it’s science at work. Fata Morgana - Ship sailing in the sky as viewed from Kitakyushu  Here’s the lowdown. The air above the ocean is usually colder than the air higher up in the atmosphere. But sometimes, you get a temperature inversion where the air closer to the water is actually warmer than the air above it. This temperature difference makes light bend or "refract." So instead of light traveling in a straight line, it curves and can make things appear in places where they shouldn’t be. Kind of like when you’re staring into a glass of water and the spoon looks all weird. It’s the same principle. Fata Morgana - Cargo ship appears to be sailing in the sky Now, when you're on land looking out at the ocean, and you spot a ship tha...

JS HYUGA ひゅうが

photographed January 30, 2025 around 17:00 by Ship Freakazoid while JMSDF military vessel ship spotting in the Kanmon Straits of Japan. The helicopter carrier made an eerie metallic sound as it passed between Garden Paradise Kitakyushu and So-So Shimonoseki City on a hazy, frigid and windy winter afternoon.   JS HYUGA ・ ひゅうが sailing the Kanmon Straits of Japan This Japan Maritime Self Defense Force ASW vessel's paintjob and construction gives it a unique look and makes it look very different from different angles and under differing lighting conditions. Interesting... And, certainly well planned out by what some call the Japanese Navy.  DDH-181 HYUGA a JMSDF anti-submarine warfare helicopter carrier 関門海峡を通る (HYUGA)  ひゅうが型護衛艦 Ship Freakazoid captured the ASW (anti-submarine warfare) carrier HYUGA (DDH-181) as it sailed thru Kanmon Straits of Japan on January 30, 2025 at around 17:00 . It's passage was announced in advance and posted on a Japan Coast Guard website....

K-PACIFIC

is a great name for a ship! Love it! I also love how the light of the late afternoon shines upon this gnarly container ship in this photo. Too bad it was so hazy. Garden Paradise Kitakyushu's air quality seems sketchy these days... K-PACIFIC container ship at sunset in blue sea under hazy sky Ship Freakazoid used an Olympus E-520 DSLR digital camera with Zuiko 150mm lens on this very cold and windy January 30, 2025 late afternoon of ship spotting the Kanmon Straits. Japan Maritime Self Defense Force helicopter carrier HYUGA (DDH-181) was in the straits at the same time, but K-PACIFIC seemed to smile for the camera a little bit better... Here are some details on the vessel: Ship Name: K-Pacific IMO: 9246542 Ship Type: Container Ship Flag: Antigua & Barbuda Year Built: 2004 Length: 134.44 meters Width: 22.50 meters Gross Tonnage: 9962 tons Wishing the captain, crew and cargo smooth sailing!

EVER CHANT

is a five year old (built in 2020) container ship that has been known to visit ports like Kaohsiung in the country of Taiwan and Hong Kong in the future Taiwanese territory of China. This vessel from the Evergreen fleet of cargo ships passed through the Kanmon Straits of Japan on the cold and windy Japanese winter day of January 30, 2025. EVER CHANT - Container ship in Japan's Kanmon Straits Ship Freakazoid was taking photographs and recording video from the Garden Paradise Kitakyushu side of the Kanmon Strait when Ever Chant graced us with its presence. While only five years old, Ever Chant looks like it has seen a lot of wear and tear. Maybe it has alimony payments and an expensive trophy wife? Or, maybe the CCP owns it and doesn't know how to take care of it? But, probably, a reality TV show that shows ships before and after paint jobs is funding its voyages and maintenance. Surely that is what is happening here. It has to be.    The video above is 4:12 in length and shows ...

LILAC らいらっく Shinnihonkai Ferry 新日本海フェリー

sailed the Kanmon Straits of Japan on a cold, dark and windy sunset January 25, 2025. The ferries Lilac and Yuukari, according to Shinnihonkai Ferry's website, connect Tsuruga Port, Niigata Port, Akita Port in Fukui Prefecture, and Tomakomai East Port in Hokkaido. So, why was Lilac sailing thru the Kanmon Straits between Kyushu and Honshu in southern Japan? Rumor has it, the ro-pax vessel was carrying military personnel.  LILAC Shinnihonkai Ferry ★ らいらっく 新日本海フェリー  Ship Freakazoid used a secondhand Olympus E520 DSLR with Zuiko 150mm lens to take photographs (Adobe Photoshop used to brighten and adjust contrast of these photos) and an old used JVC Everio video camera with Konica Minolta 54x lens mounted on a Slik tripod (used, of course!) to get video footage while ship spotting the roll-on roll-off passenger ship as it sailed between Garden Paradise Kitakyushu and Surreal Shimonoseki City. SILVER LUCKY 銀吉

a general cargo ship, sailed the Kanmon Straits on January 23, 2025. Ship Freakazoid captured the vessel with an Olympus E520 DSLR in photographs and a JVC Everio on video for your viewing pleasure.  SILVER LUCKY 銀吉 It was a surprisingly hazy afternoon on Japan's Kanmon Strait, especially looking west at Kokura from Shimonoseki. Looking east at Moji was noticeably clearer, but still had some haze. Japan's LDP will blame China's CCP for this, but it sure looks like the haze is coming from Kitakyushu... Cargo ships in the Kanmon Straits of Japan

Japan's sea and the scenic Kanmon Straits are beautiful enough by themselves, but this collection of cargo ships really adds a nice accent to the blue sky and blue sea.
