TORONTO ( Wallenius Wilhelmsen ) Roro Auto Carrier Vessel

Meet TORONTO. Toronto is not that place in Canada but a RORO auto carrier in the Wallenius Wilhelmsen fleet. This amazing vessel is 200 meters long and 32 meters wide. It is a very impressive ship!

It was photographed as it passed thru the Kanmon Straits on March 7, 2022 (JST). Toronto was on its way from Kanda Japan to Incheon Korea.

As it passed between the cities of Kitakyushu and Shimonoseki it looked like it was bigger than the buildings it passed by. Even the large buildings in the Moji Ward of Garden Paradise Kitakyushu look small next to this ship.

It looks almost as tall as the Kaikyo Yume Tower (海峡ゆめタワー) which is the phallic shaped tower in the left of the photograph above. The tower is no shorty, either. It stands erect at 143 meters and makes any man jealous.

Would you feel intimidated if Toronto passed by your ship in the Kanmon Strait? I'll bet you would. Look how big it is in comparison to the other boat in the foreground.

Ship Freakazoid photographed Toronto from the Kitakyushu Moji side of Kanmon Strait with his trusty Olympus E 520 DSL camera and Zuiko 150mm lens.

It was fun photographing this huge ship and a wee bit sad to see it sail off into the big Pacific Ocean. Wonder what kind of cars, trucks or other automobiles it was carrying... Perhaps some vehicles made at the Nissan Motor Company's Kyushu Plant?

THERMOPYLAE vehicles carrier RoRo ship passing thru Kanmon Straits Japan

THERMOPYLAE is a vehicles carrier (RoRo ship) and was recently photographed passing thru the Kanmon Straits between Shimonoseki City and Kitakyushu City, Japan. Thermopylae is a large vessel, and while not as long as some others,  is quite tall. It dwarfed the buildings and other ships and boats it passed on the afternoon of April 2, 2022. Photographed by Ship Freakazoid using an Olympus e520 DSLR with a 150mm Zuiko lens. Enjoy. A SUWA - Brand New Container Ship in the Kanmon Strait

The brand spanking new container ship A SUWA (Flag of Hong Kong) sailed thru the Kanmon Straits of Japan on a lovely Japanese autumn day (November 11, 2024) and was filmed with an antique JVC Everio video camera (Konica Minolta 54x lens) by a sissy sicko with no credentials known as Ship Freakazoid. More footage from ship spotting the vessels passing by Kitakyushu and Shimonoseki Japan can be seen on this YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ShipFreakazoid Like, subscribe, and comment should you so please... A SUWA It was nice to see such a new and colorful container ship pass by the glorious coastline of Garden Paradise Kitakyushu. The vessel A SUWA sails under the Flag of Hong Kong and was built in 2024 (also known as the year DJT won his 3rd str8 prez elexion ( ^)o(^ )). General cargo ship, container ship and tanker in Kanmon Straits The Kanmon Straits are always busy and provide a beautiful sight when several vessels can be seen entering the strait from the west side. FATA MORGANA - Ship sailing in the sky near Kitakyushu Japan

Alright, so check this out!  FATA MORGANA is this wild optical illusion that happens when you're standing on land, looking out over the ocean, and you see a ship that looks like it's floating above the horizon. It's not magic, though—it’s science at work. Fata Morgana - Ship sailing in the sky as viewed from Kitakyushu  Here’s the lowdown. The air above the ocean is usually colder than the air higher up in the atmosphere. But sometimes, you get a temperature inversion where the air closer to the water is actually warmer than the air above it. This temperature difference makes light bend or "refract." So instead of light traveling in a straight line, it curves and can make things appear in places where they shouldn’t be. Kind of like when you’re staring into a glass of water and the spoon looks all weird. It’s the same principle.
