TORONTO ( Wallenius Wilhelmsen ) Roro Auto Carrier Vessel

Meet TORONTO. Toronto is not that place in Canada but a RORO auto carrier in the Wallenius Wilhelmsen fleet. This amazing vessel is 200 meters long and 32 meters wide. It is a very impressive ship!

It was photographed as it passed thru the Kanmon Straits on March 7, 2022 (JST). Toronto was on its way from Kanda Japan to Incheon Korea.

As it passed between the cities of Kitakyushu and Shimonoseki it looked like it was bigger than the buildings it passed by. Even the large buildings in the Moji Ward of Garden Paradise Kitakyushu look small next to this ship.

It looks almost as tall as the Kaikyo Yume Tower (海峡ゆめタワー) which is the phallic shaped tower in the left of the photograph above. The tower is no shorty, either. It stands erect at 143 meters and makes any man jealous.

Would you feel intimidated if Toronto passed by your ship in the Kanmon Strait? I'll bet you would. Look how big it is in comparison to the other boat in the foreground.

Ship Freakazoid photographed Toronto from the Kitakyushu Moji side of Kanmon Strait with his trusty Olympus E 520 DSL camera and Zuiko 150mm lens.

It was fun photographing this huge ship and a wee bit sad to see it sail off into the big Pacific Ocean. Wonder what kind of cars, trucks or other automobiles it was carrying... Perhaps some vehicles made at the Nissan Motor Company's Kyushu Plant?

A SUWA - Brand New Container Ship in the Kanmon Strait

The brand spanking new container ship A SUWA (Flag of Hong Kong) sailed thru the Kanmon Straits of Japan on a lovely Japanese autumn day (November 11, 2024) and was filmed with an antique JVC Everio video camera (Konica Minolta 54x lens) by a sissy sicko with no credentials known as Ship Freakazoid. More footage from ship spotting the vessels passing by Kitakyushu and Shimonoseki Japan can be seen on this YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ShipFreakazoid Like, subscribe, and comment should you so please... JS SUZUNAMI・すずなみ DD-114

a Takanami-class destroyer of Japan Maritime Self Defense Force sailed thru the Kanmon Straits on the morning of March 10, 2025.  JS SUZUNAMI すずなみ DD-114 Ship Freakazoid was about to call it a day after a cold morning of shooting ships with cameras when a dodgy looking ship caught his eye. It sort of looked like a gray colored tugboat at first.  Chinese Navy doesn't like this Japanese Destroyer Just goes to show military designs and paint schemes work. Especially considering the badass armaments and destructive capabilities it possesses. The CCP's People's Liberation Army Navy doesn't like this Japanese Destroyer. They (the Chinese Navy) unsuccessfully tried to scare Japan by flying a helicopter dangerously close to the JS Suzunami some years ago. They obviously were intimidated by the superior JMSDF vessel.
